Western Sydney Wanderers FC have continued to invest in the future of the club, with local midfielder Josh Cetinic committing his future to the Red & Black. An 18-year-old product of Western Sydney, Cetinic progressed through the youth ranks at Hills United FC, where he was recognised as the club’s Boys Youth Player of the Year. His performances also earned selection in the Football NSW Metro squads for the National Youth Championships. Since arriving at the Wanderers, the midfielder has continued to develop within the club’s football program, impressing with his technical ability, work ethic and maturity beyond his years. His progress has also been recognised on the international stage, with Cetinic representing Australia after being selected in the Subway Joeys squad for the International Youth Football Tournament in Niigata, Japan. For Cetinic, the opportunity to continue his journey with the Wanderers is one he does not take for granted. “I was completely honoured and so happy to get the privilege to earn the next step in my career,” said Cetinic. Having spent time training alongside the club’s A-League squad, Cetinic believes the experience has already accelerated his development as a player. “Whenever I’ve trained with the A-League squad, I’ve been able to learn a lot from the players around me, especially those in my position. I try to take parts of their game and implement them into my own, and being exposed to that level and standard every day has been really beneficial for my development.” As he takes the next step in his football journey, Cetinic is determined to build a reputation based on effort and commitment. “I want them to see me as a hard-worker, someone that gives there all, 110% and someone they can count on.” Western Sydney Wanderers Football Director Mal Impiombato said Cetinic is another exciting young player with a bright future ahead of him. “Josh is a technically gifted midfielder who has consistently demonstrated a strong work ethic and desire to improve,” said Impiombato. “His experiences with the Joeys and Football NSW representative programs have played an important role in his development, and we believe he has the qualities to continue progressing within our environment. “As a local Western Sydney player, Josh’s signing is another reflection of our commitment to developing the next generation of talent and we are excited to see what he can achieve in Red & Black.”
